The date was December 15, 2011 (not December 1, 2010 as Facebook says). I remember this one particularly well. It was a rainy day and Anna and I were shooting after the rain had stopped. We were shooting a sexy hitchhiker theme. I was using one of my Alien Bees B800's, the Paul C. Buff lithium battery and a 2x3 foot softbox. During a wardrobe change while Anna was changing in a warm vehicle, I placed my light stand to the side of the road to avoid the kit getting smoked by passing traffic. As I turned away from the stand to grab my camera bag, the stand tipped. I tried to grab the leg of the lightstand to prevent it from tipping. I was too late. My Alien Bees light with battery and remote receiver went into the ditch submerged into the rainwater. The only thing I could do was look at Anna in the car and, as absurd as it sounds, we just started laughing in disbelief. To make a long story short, the light and battery survived after some drying out. That B800 finally died about 3 years ago. I bought a replacement shortly after.copyright (c) Ray A. Akey / akeyphoto.com. all rights reserved. copying prohibited. ... See MoreSee Less
