Fashion Photography | Alley Art

photocrati galleryAlley Art Show and Sale is a hip art/music/fashion fusion event organized in Windsor, Ontario in coordination with a bunch of local businesses including Heather Teahan Photography, Hello Beautiful Bridal and Fashion Boutique, The Squirrel Cage and Windsor Independent.

I have been an exhibitor at past Alley Art shows but this year, I had to forego a display/table at the event.  Instead, my lovely wife Sharon and I rode our bikes (as in bicycles — more on Sharon’s bike in a future blog post) down to do some fashion photography at Fashion in the Alley, a newly added segment of this year’s event. I brought two lenses (Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L and Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS) as I didn’t yet know the layout of the fashion show or how it was going to flow and how much light Windsor’s moody skies would give us. I did not want to use any flash/strobe light. Doing that would trash the colours and tones of these beautiful fashions and accessories by Ana Stulic, Hello Beautiful Bridal and Fashion Boutique and Dilly Daisy.

I was pleased to see some familiar faces in the lineup with Crystal Feetham, Em.G, Misty Renaud, Nicole Demers, Ashley Steele, Sarah Mac and Sarah Noemi amongst the lovely ladies modeling these fashions and accesories!

I have shot fashions shows before so I am not a stranger to fashion photogrpahy. The complete fashion show was captured with the 70-200mm wide open at f/2.8. I started at ISO800 but by the end of the show, I was forced by waning daylight to bump that even higher, up to ISO1000 as light was starting to fade as it got close to 9PM. I didn’t want to go too much higher than ISO 1000 with the Canon 5D Mark II.

I am extremely happy with how these images came out. My 5D Mark II once again proves itself as the workhorse I have come to know and appreciate.

I hope you enjoy the accompanying fashion photography slideshow!
Feel free to share this post with your friends!

Please be patient while the slideshow loads, it is pretty big; 124 images..
